It was guides that allowed me to make my first money ever on Etsy. It was decent “beer money” back then, and I’d like to imagine that if I’d had AI back then, I’d be a millionaire by now.
In my specific case, the guides I made were AirBnB checklists. But there’s a lot more than than. Even stuff that would never cross your mind, like real estate buyer and seller guides or cookbooks.
What’s the gist with creating these “guides”?
Imagine you achieved the same level of success as RealEstateTemplateCo – which is on its way to making 50,000 sales. With each sale averaging $10, that would be a total of about half a million in revenue. And this may very well be only the tip of the iceberg as several of their best-selling items cost upwards of $30.
From a completely different niche in Etsy, ShopRShop has all manners of printable guides: From Family Photography Welcoming Guide Templates to Airbnb Cleaning Checklists. The vast majority of their materials consist solely of imaginatively-set text, with quirky fonts and creative use of stock images.
The question then becomes, how can we use AI to automate the creation of these items?
For this kind of product, we can use chatGPT.
Let’s imagine I want to create a real estate buyer’s guide. Since there are several parts to one of these guides, I asked chatGPT what information should be included in my real estate buyer’s guide.
ChatGPT provided a summary of what to include. And then, I had it start writing me sections of text to insert there. Yep, this is the deal with ChatGPT: You cannot just ask it to create everything for you. First you ask for the breakdown, then you take each component from the breakdown that chatGPT generated, and ask it to write about it.
Having worked in the real estate industry, I can attest to the fact that this is the kind of data that prospective buyers and sellers require before taking any action.
And just like we used chatGPT for real estate guides, we could very well utilize it for any other niche. Those Airbnb welcome guidelines and housekeeping checklists? Check. ChatGPT will handle those with ease.
However, since you still need to take all that text generated by ChatGPT, and place it into Canva, Pages or Word, AI is only doing roughly 60 to 70% of the work here.
Plus, depending on how often you want to use Canva, you could spend up to $13 monthly. Otherwise, it’s a low-cost entry point.
Difficulty level: 8/10
